Hello,
I am in the process of designing an air sparge for a vessel. I have been trying to follow the method in Perry's. From what I have managed to piece together the Coefficient of discharge (C_d) is key to the calculations.
In the example in the book a value of 0.62 is used, but it is not stated where it came from. After further research I have found that it is possible to calculate a value for C_d, but to do this I would need to already know data such as the pressure drop though the hole and the hole area. But as these are values I am already trying to calculate i'm struggling to calculate the C_d. So i'm wondering the C_d is defined within industry norms or something simlar.
Is anyone able to confirm if this is the case? or does anyone know what I'm missing?
thanks in advance
