Hello everyone!
Im starting my thesis work about direct hydration of ethylene for the industrial production of ethanol. We based our separation system on a train of distillation columns (3 columns). Then we used glycerol as entrainer in the azeotropic dehydration.
The thing is that this columns are conected from the top (which is uncommon in the industry).
Our tutor suggested that we implement a multiple effect evaporation due to the large amount of water.
Is this possible in our process? How is the right way to approach this change?
We are using ASPEN HYSYS v8 for the simulation.
Thanks in advance
Evelyn
