Hi All,

We intend to cool CO2 compressor suction stream of around 95000 KG/H from around 55 DegC to 44 DegC using chilled water of a temperature ranges between 5 DegC to 12 DegC. However, our CO2 suction stream pressure is as low as 0.985 Barg and by introducing the cooling unit this pressure will be reduced further.

My enquiry is what is the most suitable exchanger type for our application i.e. maintaining minimum pressure drop across the exchanger. And can this exchanger be modeled in either Aspen EDR or HTRI?

Doublepipe can provide the same dP as suction pipe does and even a bit less if lower roughness of hot side will be provided. Aspen EDR and HTRI are both available to model that. Note that cost&wieght will be significant comparing to heat exchangers with conventional design.
