Dear Learned Members,

 

Following are the effects of H2/H2 rich gas flaring: 

 

1. Flame lift off / unstable flame

2. Drying of Water Seal Drum during prolonged H2 or H2 rich gas flaring 

 

Solution: Normally steam injection is advised during this scenario.

 

My questions:

1. Why the above two effects occur due to H2 Flaring? (One reason I know is that H2 burns with high flame lift-off velocity)

2. How Steam injections helps in improving the flaring during above scenario.
