Maybe the question is super basic! Sorry for that!
I am dealing with the term of backpressure during filtering process.
But, I am not 100% sure that I have fully understood the "concept" of backpressure. Could you please give some explanation about it?

Thank you in advance!

So, what do you think it is?

Hi,

It simply is the pressure built up at filter upstream while filtering operation is in progress...

It’s the upstream (pump discharge) pressure to push the filtrate through the filter at the desired flow rate.

Thanks latexman for the very clear explanation.
Even though, I had done the hydraulic calculation. I could not realize where this term referred to.
I thought it was referring at the outlet of the filter.

Hi Breizh,

They give this definition in the link you sent me: "The restriction creates a pressure drop across the filter, known as the back-pressure."

Some terms are ambiguous. So it's best to avoid using them. Words like biweekly.

I agree with Bobby. To me, what makes more sense, à la PSV definitions, the back-pressure is on the pump discharge, which is caused by the pressure drop through the filter.

Thanks all of your for your answer! Then, I did well that I asked you this "basic" question with the ambiguous interpretations!
