Hi,

I am currently working on a project where I am tasked to size a gooseneck vent. I would like to confirm if my method is acceptable. I calculated the normal inbreathing and outbreathing requirements as per API2000,then I sized the line such that during inbreathing rate the backpressure is < tank design pressure.

My inputs are as follows during inbreathing sizing:
SCFH of air and maximum ambient temperature at that coincident

FLOW1 -------------------------------------- TANK

At Flow Junction I inputted the inbreathing requirements as SCFH then ambient temp max.

My question is am I doing the sizing right? I added also the bends 2x90 degrees and end effects as well. It also includes a bird screen which I just assumed to be around 0.5 psid.

Hi,

Sounds correct to me.

You may find pointers in the excel sheet attached.

Underneath to comfort your data for the mesh.

Hi Breizh.

Maybe I'm wrong by thinking that the previous worksheet has a couple of mistakes (not affecting the final results)

1) the formulas in the first 4 cells under column "P2*/P1" of the table are not correct

2) the formulas in the cells under column "c" are not in accordance with the reported equation

Kindly let me know if you agree.

Best regards,

Gegio

Hi gegio 1960,

You are totally right, I need to review the initial document I prepared based on the document attached. The Gooseneck was for an example to illustrate the paper. My bad I will review and post it ASAP.

Thanks

Breizh

Hi Gegio,

I'm OK with point 2 , mis location of the cells in my calculation sheet.

Regarding point 1, I cannot figure out your concern. I was trying to get the right flow rate for a given delta P.

Hi Breizh.

Thank you for your answer and revision.

Also point 1 is now OK. In the first version I only detected misalignments in 4 cells: O31=1-N32, O32=1-N33, O33=1-N34, O34=1-N35.

Gegio
