This is about experience of users in pinch analysis software. Currently we have a process simulation package, which does not have an interface with the well known software packages and the data input may have to be manually entered. What options in standalone pinch analysis softwares could be considered?

I co-authored a paper with a gentleman by the name of Graham Polley (gtpolley@pinchtechnology.com) on the topic of pinch technology. He has been working with industrial heat exchanger suppliers for years to develop a comprehensive software package for conducting pinch anaylsis. I'm sure that he could help you. there are many, here are some i know of
1. Aspen energy analyzer (used to be Hex-net)
2. Honeywell exchangernet (almost same as 1, based on the same base code)
3. UMIST Sprint
4. Supertarget (now with KBC, used to be LinhhofMarch)
1&2 are based on Hex-net by Hyprotech (I guess), did not grow much, can import from Hysys, Aspen plus & ProII(exchangenet only), personally find it week in standalone design as it can be very slow (to a point its not practical), can only design networks and not columns.
now that Aspen & Honeywell devlopment of Hysys source are decoupled, they might develop these more and diverge, as of now they are almost the same
3. developed by UMIST (university of Manchester now), shares similar roots as 4, but its not fully commercialized... not sure whats the future of it, i think it can import Hysys but did not use it much to know its full potential,
4. now part of KBC and the industry standard, did not use it myself, however all practical engineers i know think highly of it,
its also not cheep and you need to pay top $$$$ for it, can do networks, columns and has good development progress. cant talk much about features but you can visit KBC site
if anyone used these they can share their experience, i only used 1&2, short experience with 3 but no direct use of 4.
