Dear All,

i am doing calculation about depressurization of a rection section and I am considering a low rate depressurizzation of about 5bar/min because it s not a depressurization for emergency but for maintenance.

Could you please confirm that depressurization rate is a value cannot be too high in case a catalyst is present?

I mean, depressurization rate if too high can damage catalyst. It is possible that this value is provided by catalyst licensor?

Regards

Hi,

You're right, high-rate depressurization can damage the catalyst inside the vessel is being depressurized.

Hi,

I don't think you will get answer from licensor, you may ask for it. You need to advise the operation team to anticipate the shutdown to get the necessary time to depressurize slowly the reactor prior to maintenance work to prevent attrition of catalyst. Probably a couple of hours (1 or 2), just a guess.

My motto, a good shutdown means a good restart.
