Here in my plant we have approximate 800 to 1000 mm secondary chilled water line laid years back ,All precautions were taken when this line was laid .All this line is underground. Now we are facing water loss and making 100 cubic meter approximate make up each day .

I wish to know possible methods to find out this leakage without stopping the circuit.

Hi

Check with the water department at your place (city). They have tool to survey their networks and detect leaks. Sometimes plumbers have such type of tools too. I think it's based on sound, acoustic technology.

Google " underground water leak detector"

Note: Make sure you have a program to treat the water, otherwise this will happen again. Same for the coating or the wrapping of buried pipe otherwise corrosion will take place. A good reason to have piping above ground.

Note: the water loss is huge 100 m3/day, this may create cavity and safety issues.

My 2 cents

The water has to go out somewhere, it can't just disappear. Start with the primitive means. Open sewer manholes and inspect for a fresh soil/sand into and abnormalities in the waterflow. Then try to find any soil anomaly along the water main route using a probe rod.

I have been told with quite common survival stories of people getting into a hidden death trap due to leak from underground pressurized mains transporting water in production sites. I have witnessed how a large autotower with a painter into it almost got tapped over by major sudden collapsing of asphalt paving underneath.

This is the reason why most users I am familiar with prohibit such piping - eventually they had to reroute those aboveground.
