Dears:

I am designing a FF system for storage tanks farm , the client wants to have foam makers to protect the diked area despite that the area itself is a porous media (diked area is soil with high porosity )

Appreciate  your advise on which STD could explain more when the foam makers should be used?

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi,

My experience in China in a Chemical plant where Foam is used. We installed an underground storage, made of concrete, (15000 m3) to receive spent water in case of fire, to mitigate to risk of pollution. requirement from authorities.

Consider discussing with your local EPA and fire brigade.

Foam systems for tanks is covered in NFPA 11.  Attached is an old Kiddie manual that discusses foam system design for tanks including dike areas.

Dears ,

Thanks for the reply , but I am asking for practicality of having foam makers on dike walls on a high porous soil diked area.
