Hi all, In our tank farm, all tanks are nitrogen-inerted, and we generally have sufficient capacity—except during winter when freezing conditions arise. Our tank farm operates mostly in batch processes, so for most of the time, there’s few nitrogen use, and we don’t experience issues. However, when we do pull at a rate of 700 L/min of liquid, we occasionally (~10% of the time) encounter low pressure.

Our nitrogen header operates at 8 barg, with two mechanical pressure reducers stepping it down to 30 mbar. We suspect that freezing conditions may be affecting the performance of our pressure reducers, either by slowing their response or due to frozen condensate in the piping.

Has anyone encountered similar issues with mechanical pressure regulators getting stuck in cold conditions? Any suggestions on how to resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated.
