Hi All,

In a process, there is a feed compressor which compresses CO2 with the following data: MW = 43, T1 = 40 C, P1 = 1.5 bar a, P2 = 27 bar a, and actual suction volume rate = 5700 m3/h. The estimated power consumption is 1050 kW. The compressor is a three-stage one.

During start-up, this compressor should be used for nitrogen circulation. The inlet temperature and pressure of nitrogen are 20 C and 9 bar a.

The project is in initial steps and there is no vendor data available. If this compressor is used for nitrogen circulation, which parameters can be considered constant and which should be calculated? The parameters are flow rate, discharge pressure, pressure ratio, and power.

Does the compressor type affect choosing the constant variable?
Can I assume the efficiency remains constant?
