Hello, please does a radar level instrument installed on a storage tank require an isolation valve ?

I have seen many storage tanks open to the atmosphere without any isolation valves! Isolation valves might be required if the contents need to be isolated.

Hi.

No isolation valve. Check documentation from Vega or other vendors .

But if it’s a pressure transmitter it’s equipped with an isolation valve!

If your tank is breathing to atmosphere, there is no need for isolation valve.

Radar technology is reliable; isolation valve may be required for technology subject to maintenance.

I've been using intensively this technology in chemical plants, on storage tanks reactors, buffer tanks, I don't remember Isolation valve installed.

Other reference E&H attached

Good luck.

Can the level device be maintained safely while the storage tank is in service? If the storage tank contains lethal or highly hazardous substance, then I advise a block valve. Could you defend not having a block valve if the question were asked during a HAZOP study?
