I noticed in many studies the number of stages mentioned as N=1, and N=2 for the number of stages. does this mean that the stripping columns number of stages is 1 and 2 stages? When resorting to Chatgpt, It explained that the N = 1 as the top most stage where the liquid is introduced and N= 2 is the stage right after it, and it advised me to increase the number of stages until I reach a max glycol purity and that would be my number of stages through trial and error, I know that the number of stages could be determined numerically or through HETP method. In your experience what is the best approach to determine the number of stages in the stripping column?

The N that makes your simulation’s separation closest to the actual separation.
