Hi! Im trying to design a horizontal decanter or separator tank for separation of crude glycerol and free fatty acids but i cant find any reference for the sizing calculations for liquid liquid separators. I also dont know the typical residence time and droplet size for this kind of mixture. Do you have any idea how to design this? I tred using stokes’s law but im getting small results for area and diameter.

Let you try these attached resources.
Lab test will also give you an indication about decantation time, knowing the process condition (T,P) and ratio of flowrates.
EDIT: Share your calculation for us to comment.
Is this the best way to separate the chemicals ?
Good luck
