Hello everyone.

I am currently faced with a problem simulating an orifice in Aspen Hysys. I am tasked to determine the following: downstream pressure of the two-phase fluid; downstream mass flow rates of both water and steam (downstream of an orifice).

For context, I work at a geothermal energy production facility and we plan on putting an orifice on the branchline of one of our production well. We know the following parameters: upstream pressure of the two-phase fluid; upstream mass flow rates of both water and steam; the upstream temperature; the diameter of the orifice opening; the specific enthalpy of the upstream fluid.

Any advice on how I can do the simulation/computation in Aspen Hysys. Thanks

Hi,

I don't have access to Aspen but I can offer you a paper where you can find pointers.
