Hello,
I'm safety engineer and I'm working on an offshore project.
I would like to have some informations concerning the technology of the fusible plug loop used in our platfotm. It is seems that fusible plug loop pressurised by instrument air is an old technology. Our client recommends to use heat-sensitive cable in which a fire melts the insulation and shorts out the cables indise. I never hear this technology. Does anybody know this technology ?

In offshore production platforms, as far as Fire & Gas detection systems are concerned, many of the times you get spurious alarms. May be due to faulty electronic cards/ detectors etc for gas/H2S detection. But in case of fusible plug loops, unless the plug or tubing corrodes or plug develops pin hole leakage, the system functions wells and activates Fire shut down only when necessary.
Further, trouble shooting in case of fusible plug system is not that difficult.
I really do not know about the heat sensitive cable system. and how easy to trouble shoot it due to shorting of cables due to spurious reasons. It is generally observed that quick normalization of production is a prime consideration in offshore production facilities.

I have to offer Fire detection using fuseable plugs. Can someone provide me the source to buy and get design assistance to proceed with.
I need urgent help please.
