Dear all

For cooling of 4200 Cubic Meter/Hour water with refrigeration package(refrigerant:R-134a) and cooling duty of 50 MW,considering the available conventional sizes and capacity, what is the optimum number of packages(also arrangement of each package e.g. No. of parallel compressors) and the general criteria which governs the selected arrangement?
Regards

I would call a vendor or two and find out from them. There are a few considerations, such as available plot space, pre-investing for possible expansion, turndown, that you may want to take into account when making your decision. Otherwise, usually, you would try to have as few packages as you can (i.e. the biggest size). Also, only you can decide how reliable the system should be, which will then result in a requirement for sparing.
