Hi Mates

Pressure drop calculation across orifices is really common procedure, acutall i am to design a silencer, for which i have to induce some pressure drop,
the fluid is steam that will pass through the perforated plate bent in the form of pipe, just like pipe with side drilled holes or u can say sparger pipe.

usually for common perforated plate , just as we use in distillation columns, for which vapors move through the holes, we use formula DP= 1/Cd^2*((Af/AD)^2-1)* ((density) VD^2)/2*g,
where Af= flow area of plate, AD= flow area for pipe, Cd= Disch Coefficient
but here case is slightly different , the fluid is not passing through in its flow direction but going side ways to pass through these bended plates, So Cd values which we usually take as .62 will be different here.

Waiting for some positive suggesstions and references.

Regards
