I need to find a source for how much a dryer costs.

Part of a class project involves sizing a dryer to process 1-5 tons/day of high-solids cake that has been extracted from municipal waste. The cake begins at 30% solids and needs to be dried to 65% solids (or better) so it can be incinerated. I've figured out the basic size of the thing. I just need to find a price! I found one book that provided estimates for a pan dryer, but I also need information for screw-conveyor systems.

I've looked at several dryer companies, but they don't list their prices up front. Does anybody know where I can find estimates? I know how to scale a price for time and equipment size, but I need a real-world price to start from.

The only thing you can do is to contact manufacturers and ask for "quotation". However, big contracts are subject to individual negotiations and this is why prices are usually not revealed... You can also hope that somebody, who ordered such equipment, will share the price information with you... No idea if an estimation of price factor can be found in a handbook or somewhere else...

I'm wondering if I should just start looking for cities that have already bought this kind of equipment. Don't they have to reveal how much they paid for any given thing?

Of course, not all cities have bought this kind of thing. Finding ones that have is a real trick.
