Hello . I want to store liquified hydrogen and i want some informations about the process. Are there any books i can find a method, and a way to design the whole system?
Thanks

Zapmaria:

You say you are to design a Hydrogen Storage system, but you fail to say if it is a process design or a detailed, mechanical design. I presume you mean process design.

There are many books and articles on the subject and I'm sure if you search through your local engineering library you will find material on cryogenic storage tanks. Depending on the size (which you fail to mention) you are essentially looking at a "double-can" design: a stainless steel tank inside a carbon steel tank. The annulus between the tanks is kept at a full vacuum and special insulation materials are also used.

Klaus Timmerhaus of the University of Colorado put together an excellent collection of cryogenic design information in a series of volumes called

"Advances in Cryogenic Engineering"
Plenum Press; New York & London, 1975

In volume 5 you will find:
"Large-Scale Production, Handling, and Storage of Liquid Hydrogen"; p. 49
"A Study of the Hazards in the Storage and Handling of Liquid Hydrogen"; p.55
"Practical Storage and Distribution of Liquid Hydrogen & Helium"; p. 69

I also recommend you read:
"Cryogenic Systems"
Randall Barron
McGraw-Hill Book Co.
NY; 1966

Barron describes the process and mechanical details of Hydrogen storage tanks.

I think you will find material to keep you busy for several weeks. I hope this helps you out.
