How To Measure Developed Head Of Pump

For a pump in existing system how to measure the developed head across it.
Is it the diffrence beteween suction & discharge PG readings. please clarify.

Dear,
You are right the differential pressure in a centrifugal pump is nothing but the Discharge Pressure minus Suction Pressure. Now you can convert this to head by using the density of the fluid.

Pumps developed head has both pressure & velocity components.(sqr(velocity)/2g)+diff head across the pump.mr.padmakar is correct but in as i feel only in shutoff condition the difference in PG of suction & discharge can give fully developed head of the pump as there is no flow (Velocity=0).

The true pump developed head would also be obtained if the suction & discharge pipes were the same size and pressure gauges were mounted in each. More often than not, however, this is not the case, and a correction for the difference in velocity heads should be incorporated into the calculation.
