Dear,
The compressor surge curve is used by HYSYS to introduce disturbances in the compressor if the flow drops below the surge limit. This is not the curve used for predicting the Surge Flow for the Surge Controller. For more information about how the Surge Controller works see the HYSYS Dynamic Modeling Manual. Or the following solutions, found under the Process Controllers and Logical Ops category in Apsen Tech Support Website. The Solution Id Numbers are
1. What is a Compressor Surge Controller? (Solution 109042)
2. How do I create a Surge Controller in HYSYS? (Solution 115317) What are the Surge Parameters of the Compressor Surge Controller? (Solution 109040)

Dear Padmakar,
Thanks indeed for the reply with adequate information, actually could you please let me know from where i can get the hysys dynamic manual, any links please
Thanks for the help

Dear Seank:
Pls note that the surge line is normally provided by the compressor vendor, not calculated by client. With the help of vendor, you can regress the surge line according to the requirement of surge controller settings of Hysys. The ASC parameters should be correctly set based on different version of Hysys. The equation used for surge line is different between Hysys 3.2/Hysys 2004+. For details pls refer to the hysys dynamic manual.
Dynamic simulation is more preferred for Compressor surge analysis. Studied cases should be decided before simulation depending on what is the purpose of your surge analysis. Normally for ASV sizing, coast down trip of compressor should be simulated.
