Chlorine is contineously dosed at a constant rate in once through flow type water systems for eg condenser cooling water systems.
The systems comprises of 900kg chlorine tonner at 10 kg/cm2, supplying chlorine to evaprator whereby chlorine is heated up to a temperature of 70-80 deg celcius in coils immersed in water bath. The chlorine outlet in vapour form is reduced to 2kg/cm2 through PRV & then through a flow regulator injected in ejector suction, motive water to ejector is drawn from system & fed back to the system.
My questions are
Why there is a need for evaporating the chlorine before injection?
How will come to know that tonner is emptied, the PG on tonner when taken in service shows 10 k/cm2.
generally two tappings are provided on tonner (kept in horizontal cylinder orientation) upper & lower, what is the significance.
