I have a flash distillation kettle with a 16" vapor line. I am having a problem with undesired entrainment of a high boiling liquid. The kettle happens to have an agitator which hinders the typical mesh pad.

It needs to be easily removed for transitions to other products. I have seen "insertion" mist eliminators but unsure of the process of sizing these. I am not wanting to do all the sizing myself, but would like to at least do some preliminary estimations before talking to vendors.

I have several questions if someone may be able to help:

1. Has anyone ever had success in putting the mesh pad in the vapor line using a spool piece?

2. How do you calculate the required thickness of the mesh pad? (Souders-Brown to get design velocity)

3. Sizing insertion mist eliminators?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
