Dear All,
I came to that there are two types of hydrate inhibitors,
a.Thermodynamic inhibitors
b.Kinetic inhibitors / anti-agglomerator .
Please explain the above types with examples how they works.
Thanks & regards,
Stu

Dear Stu,
I hope my following answer may explain you and you may find their working in an itallic font:
Thermodynamic Inhibitor
1. Chemicals can be injected to "depress the liklihood of significant hydrate fomration."
2. A thermodynamic inhibitor alters the chemical potential of hydrate phase such that " hydrate formation point is displaced to a lower temperature and/or high pressure."
3. Generally an Alcohol and one of the Glycols - Methanol, Ethylene Glycol (EG) or Diethylene Glycol (DEG) is injected as an inhibitor.
Kinetic Inhibitors and Anti-Agglomerators
It is the polymeric chemical which does not change the hydrate formation temperature but it actually "delays the growth of the hydrates crystals."

Dear stu/aliraza,
Somehow I uderstand that anti-agglomerate should be interefering with hydrate crystals lattice structure formation and growth

Dear Qalander,
You are right. Anti-Agglomerators infact reduce the rate of hydrate formation.
