We are facing the problem of high HCL and H2S in our recycle gas of reformer unit. We line up sweet Naphtha Tank (HydroTreated Naphtha) and suddenly in recycle gas results the HCL and H2S increases up to 6.0 and 2.0 which is very high The sulfur and nitrogen of the reformer feed is below 0.5ppm which is in limits. kindly let me know from where this problem comes up and how we rectify this. You can help me by Email also on saud_irfan850@hotmail.com

Hi Saud,

Can you let me know about your reformar feed lineup, have you sent feed via Naphtha splitter or not, if you sent your feed to naphtha splitter then there is no chance of sulphur to go with Heavy naphthat feed unless some tube leak in bottom exchanger.
come back with following information.
Have you pass your feed through Dc4 and Naphtha splitter or not?
Also check is there any other unit sent some slop in your tank and some time this is happning during abnormal operation, even your on HT unit.
Good luck.

Dear,

With reference to your problem, in addition to the tips given by Mr. Toor have you checked the concentartion of S and Cl in your HTN (Hydrotreated Naphtha).Your tank may be facing contamination issues/ addition of any chemical.Check the amount of PCE/TCE (Chloriding agents) dosage as well as DMDS injection. To over come the problem you might have to increase the temperature of NHT but before that the real problem needs to be identified.

Kind regards,
