Hello,

I am modelling a distillation column in Aspenplus. My column do not have conventional type of Condenser and Reboiler.

Instead , the OVHD vapor stream goes to a Heat pump which compresses the vapor and a part of vapor is used as heating media in the reboiler and get condensed .The remaining part of compressed OVHD vapor get condensed in a cross exchanger with bottoms product (which gets heated and recycled as plant feed).

These two coindensed OVHD product streams again get combined, a part of it goes as reflux and remaining a pure product.

My question is can i use "ABSRB" model(which is for absorption) as my distillation column , because it do not have any prebuilt condenser or reboiler with it. And I can make use of psuedo streams to create a reflux stream.

thanks,

C
