dear all
how can I calculate, rate of nitrogen purge gas for sulphur recovery unit?
what is the purity of nitrogen gas for this use?

You will have to be a little more specific.
Purity of nitrogen in a purge gas is not important as long as the impurity is inert (normal impurities in commercial nitrogen are helium and other gases found in trace amounts in air) if you are using nitrogen from a generator then the oxygen content is important and should certainly not be above 5% under any circumstances.

thanks for your reply.
in a sulphur recovery plant, nitrogen is using for snuffing of sulphur burning in catalyst bed when the unit is out of service. then oxegen content is very important parameters & 5% is very high for our purpose.

Exactly...!! But you still do not give enough information to enable anyone to help you.

when sulfur recovery unit is shut down , even with very low amount of air ,pirophoric material & sulphur burn & operators detect high temp at catalyst bed , in our plant we use snuffing steam at this time.but have another problem . it is CORROSION. then we decided to get a nitrogen plant. I need a general advice about rate of nitrogen & purity of nitrogen for this use.
thanks

we have both LP steam and N2 line in a same reactor. N2 is supplied from our N2 generation plant.5% O2 in N2 is very high, it will not extinguish fire , rather to ignite more. Flow rate will depend on the Reactor size. You should follow the specific NFPA codesand standard.
For our CBA process I can give you the N2 supply presure( 6 Barg) and reactor size/ catalysts volume / line size etc., after .
Regards.
