I have to use an axial flow arrangement with impeller with 45 degree pitch and 4 blades per impeller for removing hydrogen gas generated from electrocoagulation in a heavy metals precipitation wastewater application. I am stuck with a retangular tank which is 3 meters wide by 3 meters long and 9 meters deep. Because of the depth, I am assuming I need 3 impellers for this operation. Is this correct? The Re is above 10000

Clay,

If you can get access to Stanley Walas's famous book - 'Chemical Process Equipment - Selection & Design', chapter 10 is about mixing & agitation & in section 10.1 the sub-title 'Impeller Location' gives excellent guidelines about location & the number of impellers.

My suggestion will to ask support from Chemineer or Lightnin or other suppliers . They should be able to give you advises .
