Extraction steam is used to heat the feed water. Can any one tell me plz why the level of heater shell side is important. What are the effect of heater High and Low levels on the process??

Extraction steam enters the shell side at a temperature & pressure of 225 C & 2.44 MPa. On the tube side feed water enters at Temperature of 200C and outs at 220 C.

Hi,

Do you mean the condensate level in the shell side? If so, it should be kept low enough not to limit the heat exchange to sensible heat and allows the latent heat of the incoming steam to be transferred as governing heat exchange regime...

Hi,

Escaping a part of steam out of the shell without condensation and giving the latent heat...
