Hello sirs,

I'm currently simulating an upstream facility, I want to use a tank as settling vessel. It will allow the crude 11 hours of settling time and I'm going to draw oil from a top nozzle and water from low nozzle. How to simulate something like this on HYSYS? I tried to use 3-ph separator but I'm not sure of the accuracy(I specified the volume, vertical and flat cylinder) Is that OK?

The reason makes me worry too much is that after this vessel, I applied a heater treater ( modeled as a three phase separator with a heat duty) but gave me no water nor gas... it is like the tank separated 99% of the water, is that possible? and if it is OK, Shouldn't I use just heater instead of heater treater?

Thanks in advance

Don't use a "3-phase separator" as a tank.  Use a "Tank" as a tank.  The vessel should not have separation capability.

The tank unit in HYSYS only has gas and liquid effluent. In reality, a tank shall be used for settling (allowing residence time) and water shall be withdrawn from below and oil from a top nozzle....

If you really want to use "3-phase Separator" as your tank, you should specify water carry over with Rating>C.Over Setup to reflect water amount in the oil stream.
