Hi forum

I'm a head of small group of process engeneers and we have a feature of your work - we have to do a lot of revisions of P&ID, ~10 is normal for us. Now we use AutoCAD, but we would like to try a special software for P&ID.

My organization is rather small and can't afford any special admin and programmer for complex systems like AVEVA. Can anybody recommend any software for drawing P&ID and automated create line list and instrument list for ESD/DCS?

As I understood AutoCAD P&ID would be enough for us, isn't it?

Autocad P&ID would suffice and would be a better choice for you for the following reasons.

Your colleagues already know how to use the base Autocad it would be easier to migrate to Autocad P&ID.

You would likely need the compatibility to open files that you created in Autocad previously.

Your clients might appreciate that you are still using Autocad.

Also, you might want to consider getting the whole plant design suite instead of just the P&ID portion.
