I have LNG cryogenic tanks and the sizing of relief devices for fire cases  is based on CGA S1.3.

my question is when they size it --------------------capacity is given in Flow of air scfm for a fire case

Why not in scfm of LNG ?

It is not a direct conversion of scfm of air to scfm of LNG for sure

Please throw light why they use in scfm of air for flow capacity in CGAs 1.3

Thank you

Nivedita

You should get some literature from your valve supplier's website.

I do have the CGA so asked the valve supplier-usually they size the cryogenic tanks PSvs different from API. So checked with him if he can give me in LNG but he said that is the standard.

Anyways I used the Heat of conduction ,convection and radiation and divided it by heat of vap at relieving conds to get my required relieving flow
