Question: How is aluminum sulfate formed from bauxite?
Keywords: aluminum,sulfate,iron,sulfate,formation,bauxite,
Answer: Aluminium sulfate is made from ground bauxite ore by treating it with 70% sulfuric acid at a temperature of 900C. The reacted solution is evaporated to form aluminium sulfate crystals with six molecules of water as water of hydration. Because iron is also present in the bauxite, a double salt of iron sulfate and aluminium sulfate is formed.
