Question: Which is more economical, in-situ or ex-situ catalyst regeneration for a naphtha reformer?
Keywords: catalyst,regeneration,in-suti,ex-suti,economical,dumping,naphtha,reformer
Answer: This depends on who you ask. Most people agree that ex-situ regeneration is only economical during a planned shutdown. Some people claim that ex-situ regeneration results in a better regeneration of the catalyst while others don't believe that this is the case. Most companies probably tend to use in-situ regeneration. It's easier to control the oxygen level and there is no additional cost that is usually associated with dumping the catalyst (not to mention the safety concerns that must be address during catalyst dumping).
