Question: What's the best way to dispose of a dark slurry found in the bottom of a sour water tank in an FCC unit?
Keywords: dark,slurry,sour,water,tank,disposal,fluidized,catalytic,cracker
Answer: BACKGROUND Returning the slurry back to the refinery or to the crude oil tank were two ideas that were considered for "disposing" of the slurry.RESPONSE If the slurry is off of an FCCU you should NOT return the slurry to the crude tank. Charging a crude unit with cracked oil can put your products off of color specs. If your refinery has a coker that is the best place for for the slurry since it is cracking heavy oil anyway.
