Question: Can nitrogen from an air separation unit be vented to the atmosphere from the process?
Keywords: v1i16,asu,air,separation,unit,nitrogen,n2,vent,atmosphere,environmental
Answer: So long as the nitrogen does not contain unacceptable levels of contaminants, it can be directly vented to the atmosphere. This is part of the beauty of air separation units. The nitrogen came from the air, so once it's cleaned, it can be placed back into the environment because this is the starting place in the cycle. There is no accumulation in the environment from such a system. Unless, the nitrogen is being consuming, plants are just 'borrowing' it from the surroundings.
