Goodday all,

I need to design a firewater system for a booster compressor station, but i dont know how to go about it. Please, i would appreciate if somene can give me guidelines on how to determine the quantity of firewater needed and determine the quantity of foams to be used.

Thanks for the anticipated coperation.

Happy Easter in advance...

Asade,

Try to read through NFPA 15. It gives clear guidelines how to calculate 'demand' and also other design guidelines for system design.

For fire fighting foams refer NFPA 11.

If you are finding it difficult to arrive at a preliminary design such as fire water & foam demand from the above mentioned references then you are advised to hire the services of a specialist consultant in fire fighting services to prepare a basic design package for your plant/unit. These specialists do such kind of work day in and day out & should be able to meet your requirements.

Regards,
Ankur.

Dear

I am ready to assist/guide in any way if you face difficulty anywhere with my humble support.

Basic starting points one should be clear about is the hazard itself i.e.

Coprocessor Type (Reciprocating,Centrifugal or Turbine),service and

extent of pressurization and

Quantity of Flammables& or Combustibles forming worst credible scenario etc, etc.

Accordingly Gas Compressors may require a Combination of automatic CO2(or Inergen) and Water Mist(Fog) shielding system for cooling and smothering.

I googled and a lnik for you
