Hi Every body,

I have one question concerning the velocity seal,

Could we use the velocity seal without the detonation flame arrestor to prevent from flachback because it's specified in the API 521 that the velocity seal is not a detonation flame arrestor and could not prevent from the flashback problem,

It's a flare package with high flowrate,

Could you please give me detail about using the velocity seal without the detonation flame arrestor ?

Thank you,

Velocity seal is a mechanical seal that its function just would be reduction of continuous purge gas consumption required to prevent air ingress into flare tip.

Loss of purge gas flow less than required may lead to flashback problem that has its own protection facilities.
