Hi,
I am a ChE masters student currently evaluating the removal of residual dyes via simultaneous multicomponent adsorption with AC.
My concern is related with respect to the calculation of the ADMI value.
Info:
- Using APHA method, published in Standard Methods for the examination of waste water.
- Not using CIElab method
- All tristimulus values for the blank, sample and pH corrected sample have been determined.
- Tristimuli have been converted to Munsell values using tables in Wysecki and Stiles' Color Science.
- Adams-Nickerson color difference (DE) has been calculated.
Problem:
- Calculation of ADMI????
No stock color samples have been prepared. Is this really necessary?

The above article, refers to the calculation of a calibration factor (F), and then from there determine the ADMI value. However I don't have a clue what this APHA value is. Some texts sais the APHA value is the ADMI value??? CONFUSED....
There is also a way of determining the ADMI value by method of least squares. where ADMI = DE/a+(b*DE). If i'm not mistaken, you require ADMI values to do this (dependent variable), but that is what I want to determine.
SO LOST!!!
Please, if someone knows more about this subject matter, I NEED YOUR HELP!
I would like to get the chemistry (analytical) out of the way in order to focus on the engineering aspects.
Thanks
