Hi all,

Please, how does this smart P&ID works. All i know is to use AutoCAD to draw your process drawings. I would appreciate indepth information about it.

Smart P&IDs also called intelligent P&IDs have a database attached to it so unlike AutoCAD P&IDs you can extract your line list, valve list, equipment list etc from the system. It also helps to catch errors like duplicate line names and disconnectivity between different P&IDs. This is particularly beneficial on large projects having a large number of P&IDs. SmartPlant is one of the commonly used softwares for making intelligent P&IDs. Smart P&IDs is becoming a norm on all big projects nowadays as some major clients have started putting it in the contract. However, there is an old school of thought who still considers AutoCAD P&IDs are better as they believe line list extracted from Smart P&IDs cannot be error free. However, the basic rule of any software application is garbage-in, garbage-out. So if you have well trained Smartplant draftspersons then it is not a big issue considering its future benefits. If you are a big engineering contractor, the payback time for converting your philosophy from dumb graphic to intelligent graphic should be less.

hey can u pls let me know how can i get smart p&ids software. i m searching it from many days
