I wanted to know the calculation basis for the quantity and quality of steam required for the purpose of steam distillation and stripping. How much degree of superheat is normally desired for the purpose of stripping. which one is more economical in terms of the stripping effect, increasing the steam mass or its temperature. While handling a crude with high percentage of light ends is it advisable to have a higher degree of superheat and decrease the steam flow rate to have get same distillation effects, considering the fact that overhead exchangers are limiting the vapor handling load.
I will be thankful if anyone can enlighten me on this.
