I am looking for a coal fired burner. Currently i have a rotary furnace and i am using Natural Gas fired burner; however i need to switch from natural gas to coal gas and install a system where we produce coal gas from coal and then be able to fire this gas through a coal gas based burner into our rotary furnace.
I am new at this so if you could name exact names of suppliers and send me links then that would be appreciated

Limited information on industrial coal gasification can be met in http://www.cheresour...fier-mobil-mtg/, post of 21 Sep 2001 and its web references. Also in http://www.cheresour...__1#entry36863'> http://www.cheresources.com/invision/topic/9967-coal-gasifications/page__p__36863__hl__+lurgi%20+winkler__fromsearch__1#entry36863, where some suppliers are also reported.
Above concerns large industrial plant of several processing steps. This process can be useful as general knowledge, but (to my understanding) you search for a compact unit of much lower capacity to serve one rotary furnace. And you have excluded the possibility of burning pulverized coal in that furnace (probably due to contamination of the product), you want coal to be first gasified.
I do not have knowledge on this, probably big scale suppliers can also offer (or advise on) such small scale plants (Lurgi, British Gas, Koppers, Winkler, etc). http://www.recovered...sification.html could be useful, if biomass gasification can be in small scale, why not carbon? There will be environmetal issues, and passing from natural gas to coal gasification would be a "dirty" experience. A feasibility study had better be elaborated to support the decision or not.
Unfortunately I cannot give more specific information, hopefully some others can, having specific expertise.

I had read in a forum some times ago that the WOBBE Index could help to check the interchangeability of different fuels.
Hopefully others could confirm/infirm that.

Gaseous fuels should have almost same wobbe index (http://www.answers.c...pic/wobbe-index) to be burnt in the same burner. This is info from those intalling natural gas network to houses, where some burners previously used LPG or city gas.
However max acceptable difference of Wobbe index for two different gaseous fuels to be burnt in the same burner is not known to me, any information would be welcomed. This depends on burners' flexibility, varying from one burner to another. I have heard of house burners having the flexibility of shifting from LPG to natural gas.
Calculation of wobbe index is not always correct in Web, http://www.documenta...s==References== seems OK.

Just curious to know, what do you melt in the furnace?
