Dear all,
Please explain me whats the function of seal gas in compressor.Once seal gas enter the compressor and it is vented to flare header?
Is it seal gas require for both centrifugal and reciprocating compressor?
Please clarify my doubts i had searched in net but I am not able to get clear idea.

kasri,
Have a look at the blog entry:
http://www.cheresour...r-seal-systems/
I have mentioned some literature resources for compressor seal systems. These resources should guide you for the fundamentals related to compressor seal systems. The attachement to the blog specifically defines seal gas systems for centrifugal compressors.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Ankur.

dear ankur, thanks for your guidance.
Still i am not able to get idea on this.
Is the seal gas enter in to the shaft and goes along with process gas and compressed. If it is seal gas pressure is higher than the compressed gas.
Please clear me.

kasri

Kasri,
Yo will have to read a lot on the subject using rotating machinery textbooks, . It is difficult for me to explain in detail since I am not a mechanical engineer with vast experience on the subject. Basic fundamentals related to compressor seal systems are very well covered in:
Compressors - Selection & Sizing, 3rd Edition by Royce. N Brown.
Some internet resources can be found at the following links:
http://www.epa.gov/g...ll_wetseals.pdf
http://www.bhel.com/...mpressor/t4.htm
Hope this helps.

Kasri,
Is there a specific sealing system that you are talking about? If you can upload a diagram of the seal system that you are dealing with, then we will be able to explain it more clearly.
