We are facing a problem of frequent jamming of a pump on HF service. On opening casing wear ring is found to be tapered. Both, pump and wear ring are made up of monel.

Can anybody suggest the cause and remedial actions to be taken?

thanking you in anticipation

regards

Check what type of Monel you are using.
There are different types of Monel as there are different types of Stainless Steel.
Monel alloys are not suitable for low concentration of liquid HF, try Teflon pump if you are using low temperature (no more than 120 0C)
