Hello Anybody working on Isomerization Unit, Please I want to know that can i operate the Molex unit alone and what will be the requirements. and also if any body know about UOP parisom unit, it uses sufated zirconia catalyst. i want to know the price difference between the sulfated zirconia catalyst and chlorided alumina catalyst.

Hi !

I have designed Couple of ISOM Units and shall be evaluating Technology for my next design in coming weeks.

If these line above makes me sound convincing ,My first advise is Don't Panic

Next Go through Uop General Operating Manual ,it contains lots of useful information.In Case its a new unit there shall be an operator Training simulator program that will equip you with enough knowledge for normal operating scenario and emergency situations.

Tricky part about an ISOM unit is sensitivity of catalyst about water content in Feed, well again this is taken care by Lead-Lag Dryers which are automated but still you need to be careful in operation !

My reprimand comes last and here its the same case,please be specific in your query ,supply enough information and point out the problem.

Ever realized that lots of help offered free here, normally comes at a premium fee charged by consulting companies !

I think my question is clear, that i want to run only " Molex Unit" and in this case what should be the feed quality requirements to get the molexate of 87 RON and also that the feed doesn't damage the Adsorbent.
now come to the 2nd one that as himanshu sharma siad that the isom catalyst is very sensitive, so i was asking that can i use the sulfated zirconia catalyst in penex which is more tolerant to contaminants than that of chlorided alumina catalyst.
this is a relocated unit not a new one.
