Hi all,
I have a burner for drying product that use to run off of propane but now runs on CNG (compressed natural gas). The flow meter on the feed line gives a reading of 2923 SCFH. From this reading I used a conversion of 1035 BTU/cf, or 1.035 therms/ccf (given by supplier) to get a rate of 3,025,305 BTU/h.
The problem is when I look back at past propane usage, the BTU's don't match.
Typically, we would use 642 gal/h propane, which ralates to 58,743,000 BTU/h (using 91,500 BTU/gal propane), but this means we're only using 5% of the BTU's we use to use!
I suspect the problem may lie in the SCFM units. Any ideas are much appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike
