smile.gif [font=Arial Black][size=7][b]hai friends,
I came to know that the vacuum tower in our oil refinery has got one stainless steel cladding in the flash zone.I would like to know why a cladding is provided in the flash zone of the column and not in the other zones of the column.Any suitable answers?

Normally vacuum towers are clad from the bottom up to HVGO return. Normal claddings material used is 304L. The reason why this columns are clad is because of sulphidic and naphtenic corrosion. If the column is going to process high naphtenic crude, instead of SS304L is even better to use SS317L.

Thanks Luis Marques,
Iam happy to note the contents.but can u further elborate the chemistry of corrosion in the bottom area. Why is that naphthenica corrosion is not in other parts. Also sulphide corrsoion is possible?Iam not sure about this.If so what is the chemistry?
