I need information on zone classification related to coal dust explosion. Due to coal dust cloud formation, there are chances of explosion / fire . so i need to know and check which zone will be appalicable for complte coal train and allied ancillaries.
looking for some valuable information on above.

You need to first check the location and find out what standards are applicable. This is important and a legal requirement.For example in North America you follow the Class and Division system, whereas in Europe and most other places follow the IEC system (Zone and Group). ATEX is also applicable in the EU. Be aware that combustible and explosive dusts Zones and Groups (or Classes and Divisions) are different from those that are used for flammable liquids, gases and vapors.So for dust areas we have Zone 20, 21 and 22 (instead of Zone 0,1,2 that are used for flammable liquids/vapors and gases) in the IEC system and Class II Division 1 and Class II Division 2 under the NEC (in North America).
